This week you will discover a new social network that wants to compete with YouTube providing more money and control for content creators, improvements in AdWords reporting and tests from Facebook and Google that users are not very happy about.
1. Social Network WeAre8 Wants To Make You Money, But Will It Pay Up? – WeAre8 is a startup which promises to give 80% of it’s revenue to the content creators and more control over the ads displayed on their profiles. The platform has received $4.5 milion in funding from celebrities and 250 stars have already agreed to join them. When users create an account on WeAre8, they will also create an advertising profile where they can choose what ads they want to display, describe their interests and blacklist brands so that they will never show ads from them. On WeAre8 content creators will have the opportunity to negotiate on a peer-to-peer basis with companies for displaying their ads, but if they don’t want to do it themselves they can have WeAre8 negociate the deals for them. WeAre8 is still in beta and invite only, but you are free to send your email and request an invitation.
2. Easier reporting for multiple campaign types – Google will roll out new features for quicker reporting in the next few weeks. There are 3 new features: you can filter your account by campaign type if you click on the arrow in the All campaigns left panel field and choose one of the option from the drop-down menu, AdWords will remember your tabs when you switch from one campaign type to another and will save and show you the most relevant columns that you previously selected for each campaign type such as CPM for Display Campaigns and Avg. CPC for Search Campaigns and you will now be able to see pre-defined column sets based on your goals by going to Columns and choosing Custom from the drop-down menu.
3. Exclusive: Facebook integrates WhatsApp into Facebook for Android – Geektime.com noticed that Facebook is performing tests for integrating WhatsApp with Facebook. They also show a screenshot to prove it and rumors said the the members of the two teams are working together to provide the option of sending messages between Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.
4. Google Testing Commercialized Answer Box? – the screenshot was first captured by cognitiveSEO on mobile and then wordstream.com replicated the test on desktop. The result was the same: Google placed in the answer box after performing a search for “smallest car camera” an answer from amazon.com.
Have a great week ahead!
